It's incredibly surprising to see this dubbed as it's the kind of show I'm used to seeing Sentai release sub-only. But I'm definitely very happy to see them give it a chance as it was one of my favorite shows of last year. Looking forward to getting this.

I'm glad Hanayamata will get dubbed. It was my one of my favourite shows from last year and I still have that cute 'n' catchy theme song in my head.

Hah. Now you have it your head too.

I'm completely surprised by this but I can't say I'm upset! This was a great little series and one I really enjoyed. If this means more people can have access to it, then it's fine by me!

Wow this is fantastic news, when it was announced that Sentai picked up the license it was bittersweet because I figured it was a lock to be sub only and I was sad because so many of these shows are released sub only but now I'm super excited and happy and can't wait to finally watch it when it releases on bluray Anime smile Hope they dub/go back and add a dub for more series like this. I know it's a business and they can't afford to dub everything especially stuff that is niche but there are so many great SoL, less popular or niche shows that I'd love to get dubbed.

Side note but the wait for when Amagii brilliant park and whether it'll get a dub or not is awful Anime cry I want to see it so badly haha

Claps to Sentai!

I was expecting to buy a dvd in December, but after reading this, I'll save that money for this release. I loved Hanayamata and I'm in favor of Dubs, so this news are exciting to me. Very Happy

Since it is in same vein as Sunshine Sketch and Is the Order a Rabbit and the like.
Now I wait to see who is directing it

Eh...kind of a waste IMO. I don't see this selling very much. I love it though. I wish they would just release it sooner with subs-only. This kind of show doesn't work BAD with a dub, but it's just too awkward combined with low potential sales. By awkward I mean there's parts where the characters sing. And usually that means the language randomly switches or they sing a horrible English version of the song that NEVER sounds good. Lose-lose situation either way. Would've been a great show to release quick sub-only.

Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with the former. I believe all songs in anime should be left untouched when a series gets dubbed. Going from an English dialogue to the original language's lyrics will give the song more impact.

Unfortunately, sometimes the original version doesn't even get a chance to stay in the dub...like "Katyusha" from Girls und Panzer Rolling Eyes

YESS!!!!! It'd be cool if there was also a collectors edition, but I was going to get this series no matter what it came with.

Apparently Sentai thinks that the cute-girls-doing-cute-things with yosakoi will be all the rage among the English-dub-watching fandom. I imagine the license was cheap, otherwise they wouldn't bother. I am kind of curious what sort of dub voice the yosakoi shop dude will have though.
