What gets me is how weak-sauce Sasuke's apology to Sakura was. Was that the best he could do? Also, nice Devilman reference by Kishi.

I can't say I am satisfied with the end of the series but I get relieved when I think of worse ways it could end. 1: it could have ended when the war is finished and with naruto saying that he will become hokage one day. 2: could have continued thus getting lame because there is not much to be done after defeating the major antagoinist or in this case barely surviving (the battle against madara). Anyways this was a great series. The only major problem was fillers which did not make any sense. Madara would have won the war if it was not for black zetsu and kaguya....

It's a shame that the final chapter is in black and white. Viz cheaped out again. I heard a SJ: Yearbook will be out this fall with a the full color of the final chapter and chapter 1 of Gaiden..buuuut it's for subscribers only and can't be purchased by regular readers.

Even though Naruto ended last year, I am still being hit by reality hard. Can't believe it's finally over.

I do agree. Considering how many times he put her life in danger... he owed her a lot more than the apology she got. But then again Sakura likely would've accepted any sort of apology from him due to her love for him.

Although my NaruSaku self is still upset, the thing that had me satisfied wast that ShikaTema was realized. A large part of Temari's appearances were spending time with Shikamaru and thus helped make this shipping work.

*sigh* And here I thought this review would be about how the manga's final volume showed that redemption and forgiveness is possible no matter what you've done.
Instead I get a paragraph about Sakura's weaknesses. That is so stupid, come on.
Nothing about Sakura was weak in this vppme. It takes a strong person to forgive after all the pain you've been put through.
And even Kishimoto himself said the only way Sakura would have been a week woman would be if she flopped from Sasuke to Naruto or dropped her love for Sasuke. Because that, apparently I've learned, is what makes a woman weak in Japanese culture. (Note: I don't agree with this. But you need to keep the culture in mind.)

With that said, I really loved this final volume. I've loved this series since I was in my early teens and I'll continue to do so, with Sakura as my favorite character.

I lost interest in Naruto when it came over to the states (Before that I was really into it; but then everyone else was and the hype just ruined it for me), but this... The end of manga like these are never easy to cope with.

I remember feeling horrendously empty inside when Eyeshield 21 ended, but this... One of the Big 3 of SJ has finally ended. You know it's gonna happen, but you're never really prepared for it. Godspeed, Naruto. Godspeed.

of course viz went into cheap mode instead of going full color. if they had any decency for the series they would have given this one volume the full color treatment considering how die hard fans are.

not necessarily. while in some series it would be a negative, but considering that kishi didn't wanted to pull a "harry potter" type ending, that was kinda necessary. also it would have made the last movie an uber filler which would poed the rest of his fanbase.

Hello everyone!

First I want to say this review was good; but I have to disagree about the weak characterization part of Sakura character.

It isn't about Sakura herself should simply give up her feelings for Sasuke just because she has become "independent" & "strong" after her training from Tsunade that set herself apart from her crush; but the motivation behind the training to be strong to catch up with Naruto & Sasuke(particular toward saving Sasuke from his own darkness/revenge).

Even before that, her chakra control & booksmarts is what separate herself between the genius uchiha Sasuke & goofball tailed beast host Naruto, this is noted by their teacher Kakashi and her teammates.

For Sasuke, she is a reminder of the past he was willing to cut ties with(his image of his family that he loved & cherishes; but a reminder of the pain to having those bonds & to avoid being hurt ever again by being distant & cold) before casting her in genjustu/imagery of breaking her heart before Sasuke could fully commit himself toward his ideals & fight with Naruto;including making sure she doesn't interfere.

Sakura even remarks before Sasuke genjustu her, that loving him hurts her to the point of tears in a pitful state(more then one occasion; but despite that she still loves him regardless & save him/redeem that love he himself has lost(as Hagoromo/aka sage of six paths has noted about love following panel scenes later before vanishing for good).

sidenote: Yes I agree with a few here that Sasuke apology was simple and too easy; but after the realization Sasuke had from his fight with Naruto it only added to his character & make the true reunion of Team 7 mended back together even more important; instead of broken apart & questionable to where they stand.

Especially Sasuke promise to return by one special simple gesture share between his beloved brother Itachi, the fingertap to the forehead.

Honestly Sakura's instant forgiveness of Sasuke pissed me off too. There is a point and time when just letting these things go should be considered a crime. It doesn't help that her character was largely ignored ever since the war started.

As soon as the fight started I knew Sasuke would be redeemed completely of all his wrong doings through bullshit. I just wished Kishi would have a had a better grasp of morals when ending his story. Apparently that faith was not well placed. It's in line with Naruto's character to be a forgiving asshole but that's what's honestly frustrated me over the years. His character has never had to understand the line of whether to forgive or punish people. I would not be surprised if Obito had survived that Naruto would be letting him into the village with a shit eating grin on his face. You know....the guy who caused mass genocide and the death of his parents? Some boo-hoo story doesn't change that. He deserved to pay for his crimes. As does Sasuke. I'd totally respect Kishi for having Sasuke along with all the other not-so-nice-people who got off scott free face SOME kind of punishment for their actions. Because according to Naruto as long as you have some sob story you can basically get away with anything and not even feel bad about it. Children should learn from this Laughing

Thank GOD I'm not the only one who thought that Sakura ending up with Sasuke at the end was just so... ugh. He treated you like crap, but you still went with him anyway. Don't you have any self worth? Even if Sakura was that foolish and still kept loving him after all that, what's Sasuke doing going with her anyway? Did he truly learn to love her or was it some guilty conscience? Did he feel obligated? These are the questions I have and I don't care if they ever get answered. It was a bullsh*t pairing in my opinion.

Despite the unimaginative ending I still want to buy this volume because of the great conclusion to Naruto and Sasuke's story. Plus it'll be interesting to see it beside my other volumes of Naruto that I bought over 10 years ago lol.

Unfortunately this series does take the concepts of "there's no black and white/good and evil, only greys" to it's breaking point. It does seem to consistently espouse "if you do something bad, it's not 100%" or fault. It's because of the "cycle of hatred", or a "tragic background" or "you're manipulated by someone". Really just answering for your actions and owning your mistakes, and paying for your crimes seems to be a rarity.

I mean...so much seems to be blamed on behind-the-scenes string and passing on of blame that it all culminates on everything being the work of a Kaguya, a being who's concept of morality seems completely alien, or at least not really explored at all.

From some places I've read, there are NaruHina and SasuSaku fans that didn't like the way it that their ship got resolved.

I'm one of them admittedly. I used to be all about NaruHina but I did not like the way it was presented at all in the end. They never really talked about their feelings or anything like that it was just "Hinata confessed" (ages ago mind you) "Naruto basically blew it off) and they in the end they were married. Made no sense. And I hated SasuSaku from the get go.

That wasn't my biggest problem with the end though. Kaguya was final antagonist with no build and very weak motivation. Sasuke never was punished for his crimes. (Even Kakashi mentioned that normally banished him from the village for all the stuff he did which begs the question: WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU BANISH HIM?!). Sakura was basically demoted to the role of housewife instead of part of the medical ninja along with Shizune (which is a regression of her character if I ever saw one). Also the shinobi world never really changed as a whole. Naruto is just another guy as Hokage and has made no significant changes (unless you count those skyscrapers behind Hokage mountain).

Overall, this is a satisfying ending. I will agree that Sakura's decision to stick with Sasuke left a bad taste in my mouth. I've never thought she should end up with Naruto, but like the reviewer said, after everything Sasuke has done to the village and the fact that he never showed interest in her, I would think she would have moved on.
