Yes! I was hoping for Dark Horse to get it, but Media Blasters is good. Hopefully they can improve their new manga section with it.

Wait... they're talking about the manga.. right? I heard rumors of a movie or something, but never heard anything concrete. I know tehre were a nubmer of aniamted segments that were jsut test segments on a fan CD. They weren't much and I ddin't care for them..

So.. what is it exactly that Media Blasters got? I'm hoping for the manga, but a new movie (and not the shorts) would be great.

Don't make me whip out my GBE gun. Actually, I do have one. My frand made it for me when I cosplayed as Killy from Blame!. Plus just look at my icon. Yes, I definatley ahve an interest in this series.

Meh, whatever Media Blasters liscenced, I'm gonna ahve to pick it up. Even if it's the kinda lame BLame! animated shorts I've seen I'll ahve to pick it up. I'm itching to hold the manga in my hands.. in English that is. I already got one volume in Japanese, cause I got the online translations and there's not much diolouge anyway. The art alone is gorgeous. I also have the artbook. Oh and the action figures. Yeah, just a bit obsessed with this far out future cyberpunk series.

They've linked it to the ONA series in the Encyclopedia, so yeah, that's probably exactly what this will be, short clips. At AoD they also said they're trying to get approval for a behind the scenes video.

(edit: The behind the scenes comment was about Izcer 1)

Interesting little series. Far from the best, but its art is amazing. That is weird that Media Blasters of all people licenced it. Anyone know what their releases have been like (hopefully they do a better job on their manga than anime, because they haven't impressed me there)?

I love the Blame manga, but the anime they have out is just... ugh. It had potential, but it's so cheaply animated I couldn't watch all the 'mini' episodes. Each ep was about 5 minutes btw, and the animation was mainly just a mouth moving here or there. They also tried to make the anime into one of those mind $#@% things, but it failed horribly in my opinion. The only reason I'd buy the anime would be to support intrest in the manga.

I believe the movie (or 8 parts shorts). Unfortunately, the movie makes absolutely no sense unless you've read the manga.

Acutlaly, even reaading all ten volumes, they don't make much sense. They made the segements out of orfer and they even changed thigns form teh book. Hell, they're five minute shorts, did they even need to change things?

For exmaple, one of the shorts, I think it was one of the last ones, acutlaly is from the first volume of the manga. They do a weird thing by having the girl medic who shows up with the dog call her self Cibo. That does make any sense. I know these are all sorts of fun confusion with clones and time dupes and alternate universe Cibos later, but this girl wasn't Cibo. Why they chose to make things mroe confusing, especially with shorts, I don't know.

They could ahve simply animated a number of scenes, but instead they made them flashy and confusing. The manga has some really nice drawn out and quiet moments as well as really nice fast paced action scenes that are nicely drawn. None of those shorts really fit that. They're all kinda jumbled and not too well made.

I dunno some of it was good. The chase scene with the creatues on teh wall and the winged character (not saying who) was pretty good. After rereading the part, I think I got the one segment about that time they tried to connect with the Netsphere. That was one of them, right? I should watch them again. It was interesting and it's a nice try, but it was certainly not the best way to animate Blame!.

I feel bad for Media Blasters, they have an interesting bit of animation based on a fantastic book, but I have no idea how the hell they can market and sell them. I love Blame! and as much as I found problems with the shorts, I will avhe to pick them up. Though beyond die ahrd fans like me, I don't know who would buy this.
