The opposite for me. Having seen all of the various Garo series (the TV series, the movies, specials, the anime), I would have loved a chance for a female lead (especially as Garo, to Hell with the BS traditions).

That said, if it's a good story, I'll enjoy that still (plus, major female characters in the group, so they still have a chance to shine).

I'm still incredibly disappointed that even with all of the stuff they're changing in the anime AUs, they decided to keep the gender restriction nonsense even without the reasoning they give in the toku series. Especially because there were those mistranslations of the first anime's promo material that made it seem like his mom was a Makai Knight.
