A good, and well-deserved, review. This has to be one of the more engaging manga I have read in a while, and it uncovers the dark underbelly of European folk-tale and myth with a great sense of grace and style. We can forget all too easily that such collections of stories as those of the Grimm brothers were often, in their original form, quite unyieldingly grim.

Tried the first volume on a lark, liked it enough to continue with volume 2, and now I'm locked in for the ride. It will make a nice replacement for a couple of other manga that I've followed that have recently ended.

And this is also a series that I would love to see animated eventually, too. Although I appreciate the artistry as is, I suspect that this would look dazzling done in color.

I started reading this series after reading the positive review for the first volume on this site and I did not regret it. The Ancient Magus' Bride definitely deserves the A ranking and from reading the latest chapters I can tell that it's definitely going to keep that ranking for future volumes. I look forward to collecting more volumes as they get released.

On a side note, I really do love the covers for the volumes. The other manga volumes I collect have very simple covers, usually just a character standing against a blank background variants that may or may not be just white. So the colorful covers with a scenic background for this series is very refreshing!

I just keep re-reading the first two volumes, I like them so much! And I was put on to it by the ANN review of the first volume.
This is a very nice review, too!

*adds to shopping list* I'd been considering picking this one up after the review of the first volume, but I'm pretty much sold now. Thanks for introducing me to something I was overlooking.

I saw the covers for this in Japan and was curious, now I have to read it. I think it'll just be time before an anime.

Nice review.

This is a very enchanting manga, I would like to see an anime that can do it justice.

Further releases should be great to read.

Really need to try this series soon (as well as Sakamoto). Seven Seas have really stepped their game up with recent licenses.

Damn Laughing I have to go into town later to pick my friend up from the station anyway, so I'll nip to the comic shop first and see if they have it.

I'm really excited about this series. These kind of confidently articulated slow moving fantasy stories are absolute catnip for me. I'd like an anime, but I question if any studio could do the art justice on a tv budget.

I wasn't sure about this one at first and overlooked the Japanese version when I saw it. I only occasionally buy anything from Seven Seas too but, I gave it a chance now and have to agree it's quite good. So I'm glad The Ancient Magus' Bride has been getting a lot of positive reviews in English so maybe many people will try it.

I'm currently reading this series. I actually found out about this title from a Morning Musume blog. One of the older members Haruna Ikubo is a fan of the series. I didn't expect it to get picked up here. I found the imagery interesting. A young girl and being with a animal skull for a head. Some of the jokes with him are pretty odd. I'm curious to see how this series takes off. Will we see an anime sometime in the future.
