Well, sounds like someone hasn't delivered the bluray masters on time.

Maybe because they went bankrupt....

Push comes to shove I'm sure the TV stations have the broadcast master tapes and they just put those on the discs... Sucks but better than attempting to get fixes done at some other studio.

It's a shame Manglobe is going under. I really liked some of their shows, including Gangsta, and I definitely would have watched a second season of this. Now I might not even bother getting the first one if there won't be a continuation.

You can't say that Manglobe dying off means there is no chance of a 2nd Gangsta anime series. I've no idea how well the series is doing in Japan, but a studio does not have to make the sequel to a show.

Just look at SNAFU and SNAFU TOO are a recent example.

Similarly, Strike Witches was originally a Gonzo title but shifted to other studios for its other seasons/OVAs and this might be in part of Gonzo's financial issues.

Well, yes, but SNAFU sold really well (both BDs and novels). Gangsta is nowhere near as popular. I can't really see another studio picking up a continuation.

The bigger impediment is that Manglobe caught up to the manga. They skipped a bunch of stuff along the way (this easily could've been a two cours series), but nothing that could be shaped into a second season. It'll be years before the manga has enough material for another season.

Sure, but switching studios is a lot different than a studio going bankrupt basically during the production process... Imagine the pain of just getting the materials from Season 1 properly archived when they're tied up in liquidation negotiations.

Doesn't mean it could never happen, but I think it's definitely going to make it harder than if it just sold poorly.

True, but it would not be the deciding factor on a 2nd season coming around. It would be a factor, but it seemed like the poster was saying that Manglobe's closure would mean no season 2.

As I mentioned, I've no idea how it is selling. But, the main point was that you can't say Manglobe's closure will be the deciding factor in getting a 2nd season or not.

Huh, that I did not know. Sounds disappointing that they cut out a lot of stuff along the way.

I've yet to see the anime myself, but I'm wondering if I will ever end up checking it out.

Even if Gangsta never gets a second season, I think it's still important to support the home video release of this to let Japan know we love these types of action anime shows and we want to see more of them being made instead of all those moe club room shows they're obsessed with these days. Anime fans complain all the time about how they're sick and tired of moe and want to see more traditional mature action shows. Now we finally got one with Gangsta that was actually pretty good in spite of a few flaws yet it barely got any notice, even among American anime fandom who was more crazy over Prison School for some reason. And yet anime fans wonder why we don't get more shows like this made more often. In any case, I loved Gangsta so much that I'm still planning on getting the BDs when Funimation finally releases them over here and I hope the BDs will fix some of the disappointing animation errors the show suffered from in the last few episodes.
