April issue in February. The manga was scheduled to return in the May issue in March
Months, that's not how they work.

The month on the masthead is the expiration/best-before date, not the packed-on date.

Or so I understand it. The "may" magazine is printed in march, on display over april, and removed when may comes around.

^^^ I've never fully understood the reasons for it either, but that's just how publishing in Japan works. Not sure if it's all monthly magazines or just the manga ones, but yeah, an April issue will come out either in late February or early March, depending on the magazine. I remember when I arrived in Japan, around July 5, I was trying to find the July issue of Bessatsu Shounen Magazine, which comes out on the ninth of the "preceding" month. It was already sold out in most places, and I only managed to find a copy in one very large store, a day before the next issue would come out. Not sure how this works for magazines that come out in the month before the preceding one, since the next issue comes out before the actual month on the cover begins. Although I'm pretty sure I have seen some stores whose two consecutive issues of one or two title were on the shelf at the same time, so this might be what's supposed to happen.

A slight quibble, but the article makes it look like Namisaki is the sole author of the manga, whereas the magazine credits her with the art, with Hisaya being responsible for the story. Either way I'm sad about this, even though I've only watched the anime and haven't been following the manga adaptation. Namisaki's Twitter account has apparently been inactive since mid-January, with no announcements relating to her sick leave (aside from one tweet from the day before she stopped tweeting, saying that she'd had a fever and a sore throat on a near regular basis for three months). Honestly hope she gets better.

Happens in US publishing too... The masthead/publication date and the month it's on the shelf don't quite match the calendar month.
