The original over in Japan is adult-heavy, so Steam's version will be stripped down. Will they provide a batch/separate version down the line?

No patch/full version, no deal. Period.

On the Libra's Prefunia page, Mikandi Japan have been responding to everyone's feedback on the kickstarter. One of the responses was this:

thanks for the words of encouragement. You've caught on to exactly what our hope is, that vn fans want to play something new, high quality from professional game makers and artists (and something big too. light novels are great, but there's nothing like biting in to a longer story that plays out over the course of days instead of hours).

The plan as of now is a physical edition with a patch you can download that adds the +18 content. Our partner company, MiKandi in the US will be implementing that. Their team is very experienced in patching games so it will be simple and convenient.

It should be noted that Mikandi was and still is an an adult Android app store (side-loaded) and publisher: https://mikandi.com/ (nsfw)

They had tried to do app development for Google Glass but were quickly shut down.

Eroge are having success through Kickstarter because, obviously, sex sells. If they had more"originally porn-free" visual novels for these campaigns, I wonder how much they could sell (Clannad not included).
