You're basing this off what? The fact that a cuddly anime company is making an "anime" based off a book that was penned by their CEO? Or are you just in the camp of believers that anything made by an Almighty Anime Company will be good?

I believe Levy also wrote the Sailor Moon novels way back so it's not his only push into that part of Tokyopop. Either way, I read one chapter of Karma Club that was in a Tokyopop preview once... it wasn't a plesant read and I'm not really looking forward to seeing it animated. Ugh.

Yeah, I read Karma Club in one of the sneak-peek books, too.  Needless to say, it wasn't too impressive. I truly wish Tokyopop would push for something a little more interesting to be animated...

Then again, how many American "manga" had Tokyopop published that are good? I think this is a bad move on their part since they really haven't established anything except importing Japanese and Korean comics. They are quite weak on the American comic book market versus with what series they have brought over for the anime/manga fan community. =\

What I meant was,just producing animation for their own properties is a nice achievement.I'll reserve judgement on quality until I see it.

Remember a few years back, and you'll recall that Tokyopop helped create the ugly, stinky animation project "Reign: The Conqueror." Needless to say, I'm not thrilled with the thought of Tokyopop animating, and I'm betting that their animation will turn out disgustingly low-quality.

They didn't help create it, they simply bought the rights for the series from Madhouse/whoever. The series had character designs from Peter Chueng, who is Korean, and in general has fairly ugly designs, so thats why it didn't seem so "Japanese".

The way they should do it is test out how well those comics would do as merchandise, and then do animated spin-offs Because if they're not popular enough to sell toys, then TP's gonna be short a half a mil or more.
