Lol Ninja Slayer, Psycho Pass 2..this must be rigged.

And do these "experts" believe idol animes have the potential to be as popular in the West as they are in Japan? They don't seem to understand Western audiences very well.

To be fair, the entry for Psycho Pass includes both the second season and the movie; in fact, it uses the movie's promo image.

Also, "foreign" doesn't necessarily equal "Western".

Hmm, would've thought that the brackets should also indicate that this is for the movie, not the TV series. Just throwing BtB is a bit ambiguous.

I'm happy to see SNAFU Too, F/SN UBW, and Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun on the list. At the end of the day, "experts" or no "experts", we know that the final list will just be a popularity contest. Won't have anything to do with what foreigners will like. And, in turn, I'm happy that stuff I like is in the running. Laughing

Out of the manga, only one I'm collecting is A Silent Voice. Happy to see My Love Story!! there, as I enjoyed the anime, along with Boku dake ga Inai Machi ("The Street Without Only Me"), as I'm looking forward to checking out the anime adaption (I'm a sucker for time travel).

LNs - nothing I'm reading there...seeing as the only LN I'm currently collecting is The Rising of the Shield Hero.

Entertainment Novels - are any of those available in English at all? Laughing

Well, foreigners can still vote, and there'll be an English version of the site too. I voted already but I don't know Japanese so I didn't put any messages or comments to go with my votes, so I don't know if they count.

Hm, the "October 2014" date suggested it was only season 2, though.

You probably don't like idol anime if you think that, because there's a HUGE fanbase for it in the US. I've run Love Live cosplay photoshoots at both Anime Central and Youmacon, which are both pretty big, and Acen had nearly 50 cosplayers and about 30 photographers, while Youmacon had nearly 30 cosplayers and about 15 photographers. Those numbers might seem small for a con with attendees in the thousands, but those are actually fairly big turnouts. Most shoots are lucky to have 20 people.

I'm also a part of a lot of online forums for western idol fans, and trust me, the hype is there. Chicago originally wasn't getting the Love Live movie, and people actually petitioned to see it and won and it was shown here. The phone game has MILLIONS of western players.

I don't think IdolMaster did nearly as well here, but Love Live is huge and does have the potential to do well with Western audiences.

vonPeterhof is correct, I just used the October 2014 date because it was earlier.

Are there going to be multiple languages? English speakers aren't the only foreigners out there.

I've actually already voted. Not sure if it counts, but hey. I'll probably vote again once the English site is up. What I voted for though was:

ANIME
Kuroko's Basketball
Blood Blockade Battlefront
Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun

MANGA
A Silent Voice
Twittering Birds Never Fly
Haikyu!!

Those were my favorites for the past couple years, so that's why. It was pretty tough though with stuff like Sound! Euphonium and Love Live! up there, but hey. I also wanted to vote for OPM and Boku no Hero Academia, but since I haven't been reading them as long as three I chose decided against it.

What exactly are "entertainment novels"? The list of nominees in that category are unfamiliar to me.

It's a term used in Japanese publishing and literary criticism for any novel that prioritizes getting a certain reaction out of the reader over expressing the author's feelings, studying a character or exploring a certain theme. Works that prioritize the latter are considered to be "works of pure literature". The distinction can be a bit arbitrary: pretty much all "genre fiction" (SF, fantasy, mystery, horror, etc.) is considered "entertainment" by default. Light novels are also considered to be entertainment novels, so I'm guessing the implied award category is "entertainment novels aimed at adults".

I'll have to do the same, which actually makes me wonder if they have some kind of control over how many votes a single person/IP/etc can give. Hopefully it doesn't turn into a "which fandom has the most bots" thing.

My votes were Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun, Yuki Yuna Is a Hero and Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works for anime. If there were more vote slots Sound! Euphonium and Blood Blockade Battlefront could've made the cut too. For manga, I voted My Hero Academia, Boku dake ga Inai Machi and A Silent Voice. The only other manga from the list which I've (tried) reading was Tokyo Ghoul but I stopped halfway through. I'm not reading any of the novels so I couldn't vote for those.
