Well, there were rumours of him leaving the Transformers writing room. Guess this might be where he ended up.
Good luck Micronauts. You're on your own. You take the s**ty writer of Batman Forever off us TF fans. He's your problem now.
But in all seriousness, damn. I feel sorry for Micronauts fans.

Regardless how people may feel about when an anime gets the Hollywood, and there is justification for this, we have to remember that the Japanese give the nod for this. Since it's often from a business standpoint, the Japanese companies might be willing to compromise a bit for this film staying true to the spirit of the anime.

Why does it look like Saint Seiya?

It wouldn't make any difference, you've still got Michael Bay.
Akiva spent the post-Batman years artificially pumping up his reputation with so many cheap hi-profile bestseller adaptations, he fooled studios into thinking he was a good writer; it's nice to see some of us still Never Forget 1997.
(The year we still blamed Joel Schumacher for "Batman & Robin", until we saw "Lost in Space" six months later... )
It's Hasbro, though, which means if they can't make it look like the Transformers movies, they'll just sell it off to any old taker like they did with Jem & the Holograms.

Yes, where does that picture come from, because it is not anywhere close to what the western version of the Micronauts (toy or comic versions) look like.
I hope they follow the Marvel Comics version of the characters, because I like them; but I feel that they will tread new ground based off the toy versions.
I more nightmarish version would be if they create new toys for the movie, totally unrelated to the past.

Here's Hasbro's latest promotional image from last week's Investors Day 2015 presentation.
Looks like they're loosely basing it on the Marvel comics with Bug, Acroyear, and maybe Marionette with movie Optimus Prime? Make of that as you will.

Yyyep, so, "Hasbro wants to clone-replicate the Transformers movie, like they did with Battleship".
Pretty much called it.

This could be interesting. Y'know there is so much stuff they could tap into and here we are in 2015 doing it. Talk about slow.
