So how much manga boost did Shoukugeki get? Because it gotta be significant enough to warrant a second season.

Still, I was soooooo confused and baffled at Shoukugeki's abysmal low disc sales, I mean, even a huge pre-existing manga fanbase couldn't make this faithful adaptation a decent seller. Why?

That being said....HECK yeah, Season two baby!!!!

It's still quite a way behind the likes of Haikyuu! & Assassination Classroom but I guess the boost was enough to justify a second season. It was the 7th highest selling manga series in 2015 which is pretty impressive. & perhaps they see room for more growth?

I remember reading that Shounen Jump titles don't care about BR sales, and that Shokugeki's sales could be considered good among SJ mangas. No idea if that is true though.

Season 2 Hype!

I think that applies more to the long running shows like One Piece, Naruto, World Trigger, etc that air in daytime slots and have high amounts of live viewers and advertising rates. Food Wars! is a late night anime and I'd imagine its second season was thanks to manga boost.

Well, I am still watching the first season. It is good, so maybe I'll watch the second season.
