daheck is that manga/anime ranking just 1 or 2 good else meh and at light novels iam surprised to see SHIMONETA rest all deserved specialy overlord and danmachi waitin for the 2nd season announcement for its anime

Eh? I thought that the manga and anime rankings were all pretty good. I haven't read the yaoi title, but the rest of the entries all have critical acclaim.

The anime top 5 is very solid, though Psycho Pass season 2/movie are probably a stretch.

Except for Psycho Pass, the rest of the anime are good choice. Rooting for either Shigatsu or Shirobako as winner.

I don't read the manga but I enjoy Haikyuu and One Punch Man anime adaption a lot.

Enjoyed the My Love Story!! anime, so happy to see that the manga made it onto the list. Loved the Nozaki-kun anime, so clearly happy about that too.

Disappointed that the SNAFU LNs didn't make the list, but I did enjoy all of the anime adaptions of the LNs that did make the list! Laughing

I see. Then I don't think they have a very good idea of what we gaijin like. Well, I know all of these are at least fairly popular in the western anime fandom, but there's no chance in Hades of Haikyu!! or Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun being widely accepted.

Shimoneta could probably catch on well if more people hear about it though. We love social satire. (But, looking at what series catch on in the west, not nearly as much as science fiction or fantasy action series with hot-blooded protagonists.)

Actually I think Shirobako would be less compelling to Westerners without much anime background than Nozaki-kun. Shirobako assumes the audience cares about the details of anime production. Nozaki-kun has a lot in common with successful high-school comedies like School Rumble.

After watching anime for a decade it's pretty hard for me to know what would appeal to someone relatively new to the medium. Probably most of us have too much contextual knowledge to speak to that.

Oh, I said Shimoneta, not Shirobako. But I think Shirobako would still be good for people really into movies and TV shows. (Not much else though; I would agree with you that most people don't care how their TV shows are made.)

Actually both Haikyu!! And Nozaki kun have gotten fairky large followings in the U.S. in fact alot of these were popular for at least a short while in the west. Daimaichi's Hestia took over the internet for a good chunk of the spring, Tokyo ghoul is incredibly popular, and One Punch Man is pretty big as well.

I'd say that this list is fairly accurate.

Huh, that kind of stuff actually interested me. But, I just never latched onto any of the characters in Shirobako to care about the tasks that were put in front of them.

Sure, the behind the scenes look is interesting, but not enough for me to follow a whole anime series, when I'm not interested in a single character.
