After the lukewarm reception the third one got, I wouldn't be surprised if the fourth one was postponed indefinitely. It would be too amazing to have it released in 2016 anyway, what with all these other titles making comebacks.

So I assume a huge part of the delays is Khara's 'special' subtitle track. No surprise; they cannot schedule a movie, so how would they get low priority international subtitles done quickly. Does anyone yet know though whether there is actually anything special about it? Or is it just a Japanese company being completely controlling again? Next up, special engrish subtitles.

This is a bit selfish of me but I don't really mind the delay if only because it gives me time to finish Evangelion and Rebuild so that I can watch the final film when it comes out.

No, it's clearly labeled as "Interest".

I forget the source but it also involved Funimation having to re-do the entire dub track with Anno / Khara's direction. They wanted a few things to be changed such as using 01 Unit instead of Unit 01 as an example.

I remember being really hyped back in 1.0 and 2.0 days but I'm glad I sold my copy of 1.01 right around 2013 and just moved on.

...so basically a bunch of non-English speakers telling a bunch of native English speakers how to speak in English. Terrific!

So I guess this means that the final Rebuild of Evangelion movie will never come out, won't it?

Given the quality of that third movie, maybe they're waiting for us all to forget. Seriously, what a load of nothing that entry was. The fourth one should just pretend it never happened and pick up where the second one left off.

Man, incessant whining about Evangelion, it's like it's the turn of the century again.

Are you saying it's wrong for the creator of a work to have the say in how his own terminology works? I mean, calling it 01 Unit sounds stupid, yes, but it's still his work. He should have a say in how it's produced, even if that say is one that we disagree with.

Getting the creators involved with the dub generally helps the final product to have higher quality and lack of censorship. I don't know how it worked out with this one, probably not so well tbh, but take the Revolutionary Girl Utena dub. It's considered terrible by a lot of people, but it actually picked up in quality heavily after the first act, because the director of the show helped coordinate the dubbing.

Basically what I'm saying is even if this one didn't turn out well the act of a creator being involved in the dubbing has historically been a good thing more often than not.

If it involves English dubs of anime, the creators Japanese and involvement not simply on level of advice on things like terminology, names, etc, I have very hard time believing, especially the latter part of what you wrote. Care to show some proof of your assertion?

Wow...when you break it down like that...it is a lot of time to invest in just one series. I have held both my current job and my previous one contained in that stretch. I have been married less time than I have spent on this film series...wow. That is a weird feeling. I honestly don't feel like it was time well spent for the results we have so far.

I love Mari, but damn. Neutral
