So does this mean the animation and storyline will get better or develop and actual plot/change, or is Pokemon forever the same?

Ash should be an adult by now, but he's been 10 (or 11, I forget) for more than 10 years. If change was coming, it would have happened a looooong time ago.

Digimon has moved on but Pokemon will be eternal apparently. Or until the games stop being a money printing machine for Nintendo.

Ash being 10 is a misunderstanding and attempt to kinda-sorta reboot the franchise with BW, which failed hard (and we lost all improvements in storyline, like competent Team Rocket) and was dropped. We saw the time pass. He's not 10 since Johto at least, that was a case of unreliable narrator.

I'm curious, what is a better story line for Pokemon? It's a kid show/game about collecting animals and competing with them in tournaments. That's literally all it is. Anything other than finding/losing Pokemon, the thrill of competition, and making friends along the way is kinda taking the show off concept.

Plus, it's aimed at 5-year-olds. Older people may like it but that makes them an older person that likes a kid show. It doesn't make the kids show an older person show. Pokemon will always be a kids show. There will be no dark/serious arc. It's made for children who can barely read. That is the level of complexity it will have. Any story line you think of that prevents a 5-year-old from jumping into the middle of an episode and pretty much getting what's going on is a story line you'll probably never see in Pokemon.

Maybe if you get a chance you should watch the XY/XY&Z anime. The animation has surpassed anything Toei has produced the past 2 years.

Pokemon's animation is better than that of most action anime.

Considering the source material I would say the anime does a great job fleshing out a game series that hasn't evolved since it's first incarnation. They add more characters, more towns, and more world building in general. The concept of Mega Evolution seems a lot more fleshed out in the anime than the games. The anime goes into the rammifications it has on Pokemon and how Pokemon without proper training can go into a bloodlust and feral state.

Also I concur that [b[Pocket Monsters XY[/b] has better animation than any other weekly series like Naruto and One Piece. XY is one of my favorite current anime because of the characters, story, and animation. I think we should be worried that the studio might be pulled off animating Pokemon during some kind of restructuring.
