^ It SHOULD be great...

but if you've seen ANYTHING from 8-Bit, you would know it's probably gonna be a low-budget mess. I love love love Rewrite....but I just watched all their shows again to see if my memory was wrong about 8-Bit...nope..they're awful. Their latest show, Comet Lucifer, killed ALL my hype for this anime. I honestly wish they'd just give up making anime because they're so bad. And I'm very mad at KEY/Visual Arts for giving them Rewrite.

Edit: I know this sounds mean and cynical or whatever....and I'm sorry. I would LOVE for this to be an amazing anime, but at this point in time, all evidence is pointing in the other direction.

In regards to that...Rewrite I think is too long for that, if told properly without cutting too much of the good stuff out. I would say 2 2-cours.

It would have been great if PA works got this as a 1 year project. But it is just impossible.

@Kougeru
I understand that you are worried but, this is an Aniplex/Key anime before it is an 8-bit Anime.

this is the first time 8-Bit works under Aniplex so lets hope and pray that this will turn out to be their best show

New studios are very unpredictable. I was the same as you when Lerche got Assassiantion Classroom. All their anime before it were rushed or highly infamous or ecchi. However, Ass Class was expertly crafted in almost every way in terms of what they did. 8-Bit have shown us what they can do(Labyrinth and Eden were phenominal, agreed, The Fruit of Grisaia was poorly animated), and they've shown us Alot of times what they can do when they aren't arsed. But if you didn't know the director, TENSHO, is a visual novel maniac(from what I can gather). The way he is talking about Rewrite on twitter is the same as J.J. Abrams when he was director Star Wars 7. He's a bloody fanboy

I understand your worries though, especially in adaptation. But the one thing I like about 8-Bit is that they put being an anime series before being an adaptation. Of course that can lead to rushing up the arse for fans, but as an anime its an unforgettable experience. (Grisaia ahem).

In animation, there overall okay, but only okay. What great thing they do have hear though is fantastic cinemetography, and when they want to try, they can make some truly phenomenal animated episodes.

Personally, I think don't be so negative. There's a good and a bad, the good is if they do it right the experience will be even sweeter. But if they do it "bad" in adaptation, it will ruin your view on it as an anime . That's what I've come to learn.

New studios these days tend to be rather unpredictable, so just believe and look forward to it even if its rushed, it is an anime about the characters you love regardless:)

this is going to be a mess. not only does the structure of the story not carry over to anime, it 100% isn't going to get the amount of episodes it needs

Exactly. I think some people give 8-bit too hard of a time. Their production values have only gotten better as they've aged. With the last 2 parts of Grisaia looking really great most of the time. And then Comet Lucifer being flat out gorgeous(with some of the most well done mecha CG I've ever seen, to be honest). Yes, the actual writing was terrible, but otherwise, the production values were fantastic.

Correct, and it's the creative names behind the series that really matter more than the studio itself - that largely means Tanaka in this case, since he's both writing and directing this. I haven't seen any of his prior series, so I'll reserve judgment until the show comes out and we see what we're getting.

As for 8-bit itself, I've only seen two of their shows so far. I really liked Yama no Susume, especially the second season, and that show had a really solid creative team behind it led by Yusuke Yamamoto, the director of Welcome to the NHK. Comet Lucifer, OTOH, had a relatively green series director in Atsushi Nakayama (his only other series as lead director was Absolute Duo) and a lead writer who'd never been in charge of series composition before, and I think their inexperience showed in the mess that the story turned into. But it was still an entertaining series at least, and most of the animation was pretty good.

Grisaia's director will be directing the Rewrite anime?

Well, there goes much of any hype I had for this project. I guess it'd be nice if it ends up surprising me though. Tanaka is involved at least.
