Why did Hasbro and Paramount make such a big deal about that writer's room if all they're going to do is hire Bay again?

Well, he says it's his last one (we're HOLDING you to that, Mike! Mad ), as #4 felt like it was starting to lose its raison d'etre, except that in this case, Hasbro/Paramount wants #5 to be the opening flagship of all their other TF-cloning projects, like ROM and Micronauts.

(Oh, and the second Ninja Turtles movie, just in case the TF's don't become Paramount's Name Franchise.
Y'know, Bay didn't direct the first movie, and it wasn't all that bad.)

I've liked all his Transformers films so far so I'm okay with this.

He keeps saying each new film will be his last so I'm sure he'll be back for Transformers 6.

The second one sucked, but that can be blamed on the writer's strike meaning they didn't have a final draft script to work from.

This can only mean one thing: he has another pet project that he can only get greenlit by making another money-maker for Paramount.

Now, those Transformers movies have all been exactly the same but if the movie he really wants to make is anything like Pain & Gain, it'll be worth it.

They're on the fifth one? I was under the impression I was watching the same movie all these years...

Oh, come now, it means much MORE than that:
- Insultingly goofy racial stereotypes
- "Trailer" tropes (like boom-boom-blackouts during action scenes, or audibly "zhhoop!"-closeupping onto a character's face before he says a money-line)
- Sycophantic kissups to the China market
- And, of course, a self-indulgent interest in his own subplots and complete obliviousness to the writing concept of "Kill Your Darlings", by giving us up to an hour of wacky sitcom-byplay between the characters before anything robotic even appears.

Bay films may be pretty shallow but they sure are damn fun to watch if you're bored. Can't wait to see what the trailers will be like, they're usually engaging. Just wish Shia would come back, he's a quarter of the fun Sad

Since this is his last Transformers, he'll need to end it with a bang...about a hundred of them total before the movie ends. XD
