I wish that this would mean we would get more Ishinomori stuff over here, but I'm sure that is at the top just because of the Legend of Zelda name.

It is a fun read, and the release done is pretty nice, so I am glad to see it doing well though.

The Batman manga outsold almost anything not Attack on Titan or Tokyo Ghoul. Laughing

Anyays, the Saga dominated the Top 3, and the new Ms. Marvel did pretty well.

That's impressive. I'm really pleased that this book finally got released. And it's a great way to expose people to the late Shotaro Ishinomori. If you're a Cyborg 009 and a Zelda fan then this is an even bigger plus for you. I even think that if this book had came out when NP was in it's early days of publication, no house that had a NES console wouldn't have this book.

I had to put this on my list of books to buy for the library collection, mainly because it's a game comic and it's the only work by Ishinomori that could be acquired as study in the same vein as Tezuka.

I would love to see all the Cyborg 009 manga (all versions, including the online version from a few year's back) have an official web or print release in English.

Though Ishinomori's likely most famous for his henshin/Super Sentai contributions, I would that his most noted manga is obviously 009. What Astro Boy is to Tezuka manga, I would say 009 is to this guy.

I'd be interested to see how things line up if you count total sales, not just those who purchase through Diamond. Regular book stores, and sites like TSRI and Amazon (who I believeget their books directly from the publisher) would skew the numbers much differently.

I was wondering that, too. Diamond sells to comic book stores, and the comic book store market is tiny.

Interesting that Sailor Moon is the only shojo on the list, but comic book stores definitely don't tend to sell much shojo.

For graphic novels, it's a significant portion.

Girls usually shop at bookstores.

I'd say it's more like comic book stores don't usually cater to girls (or manga, for the most part), but that is changing.

Darn, no One Piece on there. Then again, no Bleach on there either.

Agreed. I started collecting Tokyopop's Cyborg 009 a bit too late; I was only able to reach Volume 2 when every retailer just suddenly stopped selling them, and I didn't want to get them used. I forget if that was when Tokyopop pulled out of the manga printing business though.
