That's a shame for anyone who is still looking to pick this up. Sad I have my special Bandai copy that came with the OST and I'm happy for it I absolutely love this movie though admittedly in the trinity of Hosoda's most popular films it is the third favorite after Wolf Children and Summer Wars.

That's a pretty bit "oops." I could see if it was a super-similar title (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time vs The Girl Who Leapt Through Space, for example), but two titles that just happen to be by the same director is stretching it a bit. Even further stretching the "oops" is that they (presumably) had the promotional image to go along with it.

My guess is that they're working on acquiring it, but that they haven't finalized all the contracts yet. This could hurt them, and the licensing falls through, or we could be soon hearing an announcement from them.

[edit: lol, didn't realize I'd typed the same word twice, instead of switching them!]

There was the Girl Who Leapt Through Space. I liked that one. Haven't seen the Girl Who Leapt Through Time. Have to put that one on my list for acquisition.

They're probably just not ready to announce it yet, and that bit of info leaked too soon.

Funnily enough after I visited the National Museum of Tokyo, I saw The Girl Who Leapt Through Time:

I hope that it gets made available again in the USA for those who haven't seen it.

Please, please, please, please rescue The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Funimation. I wish I had bought this one instead of rented back when I first watched it, though I don't remember if it was already out of print by then. Sad

This movie would be a no-brainer for Funimation, of course. Let's hope there aren't any dumb hurdles that keep this from happening.

I would love to buy it and finish it rather than watch it illegally. It is a movie that I also would like to show it to my niece. That how much I would love to buy it. Very Happy

That Blu-ray is out of stock and the DVD is region 2 or 4.
The region 1 DVD is out of print and is not that cheap.
There has been no region 1 Blu-ray with an English language or subtitle track to date.

If Funimation does license and release it, many fans will be very happy.

Yikes. I wonder why they don't have the license for this. It seems like a no-brainer for everyone involved, and you'd think that it would be easy to license it since FUNimation already has several Hosoda films licensed.

I hope that FUNimation eventually licenses The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and makes it available for those who haven't seen it.

Nothing in Anime licensing is easy.

I bought the Bandai boxed edition at a convention in 2013. Glad I did.

I'm sure FUNi would've license-rescued Tokikake, if Boy and the Beast had gotten nommed for an Oscar. So, you know who to blame for that.
