Still waiting for a sequel anime. That way the characters can be MUCH more characterized. But this is good for Hinata at least.

That won't happen. Unless there's a remakes years and years later. The visual novels coming out will fill in the blanks. Fans will have to hope for localization.

I distinctly remember them announcing that to go along with the Visual Novel for near when the VN is almost over...ACK NEVER

Far less clear so far is whether or not Hinata is actually attracted to Yuri at this point, which is important since little indication of this ever played out in the anime.

Interesting point. Isn't there a scene late in the anime where the characters are left to their own thoughts and Hinata is seen standing on a bridge, admiring a photo of Yuri? Then again, Hinata pledged to spoiler[marry Yui] so… not sure what to think here.

About Hinata's "pledge" - as emotional as that scene was - I wouldn't take it that seriously. spoiler[If you paid attention to his real objective then you would realize he doesn't actually feel that way about her.]

Wouldn't surprise me if he was attracted to Yuri. And considering how she kicks him off her in episode two after allowing Otonashi to basically climb all over her...well, let's just say there's great chemistry between those two.

Agreed. Like seeing him as the MC in this story.

On the humor side of things, I felt that it mostly worked for me. The thing that didn't really work for me was the interactions with Angel. Mainly due to how she is at the start of the series. But, there is also the possibility that something Yuri and Hinata do during this prequel leads to that, which is while I'm overlooking that at the moment.

As for the whole attraction side, he does think Yuri is cute. He even says so a couple of times. I have a feeling that he is interested, but her abuse of him kind of keeps that at bay a bit.

On Hinata and Yui, I do think that was a bit more to fulfill the objective that they set out on during the tv series. While I still love that scene, I do question whether or not it would be something Hinata would go through with, if given the choice.

I really enjoyed this first volume, and I'm looking forward to more. I think that it's up to 10 volumes at the moment. Was surprised to find out that this is an adaption of a single novel...10 volumes...and counting...Laughing

I don't recall them announcing more anime. Where was this stated? They do have an OVA...but that was comedy.

I also feel like I vaguely recall hearing confirmation of more anime, though after some quick searching I can't find any evidence of it. I suppose I could have been mixing it up with something else.

On the other hand, I came across a forum discussion on MAL where someone claimed to know of an interview where Maeda states he didn't want to do a 2nd season. No source was provided though and no one else in that discussion seemed to know of the interview. That was also the only post that member ever made, so who knows how accurate it is.

I couldn't see a season two either unless it was a prequel. Interesting.

I'm thinking that people may have been confused with Charlotte's news since it was a 5 year anniversary project from PA works. People speculated it was more Angel Beats. Other than the OVA, I didn't read anything in English. I'm not fluent enough to read interviews.

What are the chances we'll get a prequel anime (based on this manga, or maybe original content) to fill in some character backstories that were missing from the original anime?

I could see maybe a few OVAs set in the middle of the series, but I honestly don't know how lucky we gotta be to get another anime depicting the events before the show began.

I personally see it completely differently. Hinata liked Yuri at first, but that didn't go anywhere. She clearly didn't like him in a romantic way, as seen the way she treated him (hence kicking him down when he tried to climb etc).

Later on he met Yui, and despite always teasing her, he slowly started to like her. Yes, he made that speech to help her pass on, but I genuinely feel he was being honest and did love her. It's normal to like someone, and then become disinterested, and maybe eventually find someone else. In our case, his weird emotions for Yuri didn't go anywhere. He can still admire her as a strong person or a close friend, but admiration and love are different.
