This new manga is based off of the same supporting character from his previous manga "Kanojo no Carrera."

Still would like to check it out.

Kia Asamiya doesn't get a lot of love that much anymore when he's such a great author,

Sorry, as much as I liked Initial D, street racing manga are passe.

And there's no way a high school girl would be an undefeated racer, because there's always someone who's spent more on their car and has more experience.

I'd kinda like to get a closer look at that image. From this "distance" it looks a bit like his old stuff, before pointy-nose/square-jaw syndrome took over.

You guys should give it a try when it or if it becomes available.

The main character was driving go-carts since she was a kid much like in the Capeta manga, her Dad was also a professional racer who had access and connections to parts, tools, and mechanics.

Then their is the fact she would street race when ever she could to polish her skills when not in school or on the track. To help pay for it all the upgrades and maintenance of her STI she had a part time gig as a idol taking pictures etc using her fame being a woman Cart driver.

She also personally owns a Porche 968CS which is her daily driver.

I don' expect this new series to be overly into racing like Intial D was with it being the dominate theme involved.

If this series is popular enough to get an Anime adaptation than I might give it a try, I just hope there a lot of cool drifting scenes. Smile

I hope Zero Angel garners enough popularity so that it may one day have an anime show. Rarely are there racing shows starring females, at least as far as I know, anyway.

Man, it's really sad when the old greats are just over the hill and reduced to doing this sort of formula (har har) stuff. I'm sure the art will be top notch, but otherwise zzzzzz, like the Carrera manga.

Of course, on the bright side, you're never going to be as bad as Masamune Shirow.

Basically ALL professional racers have been driving karts (with a k, not a c) since childhood.

It doesn't change the fact that street racing manga is passe, as is street racing.

She must be making a shit-ton of money, because it takes a LOT of money to be undefeated at something like car racing. Especially when in real life she'd be racing against 30 and 40 year-old guys with full-time jobs and much more experience.

That makes even less sense. The STi would make an awesome daily driver unless it's been fully race-prepped, in which case that would explain why she's undefeated... FWIW, Lancer Evos are almost always faster than STis.

@Banken

You are taking this way to seriously. If as you say, street racing manga is passé, this will fail on its own merits.

Also, manga frequently attributes impossible abilities to its main characters. It was pointed out frequently that what was done in Initial D was impossible. That didn't make the story less fun. For anything but pure slice of life manga a certain amount of willing suspension of disbelief is required.

If you know too much about auto racing to enjoy this, it is not required reading.

Fast and Furious has lots of impossible stuff, still sold buckets.

I've wondered what Kia Asamiya was doing all this time. Hadn't heard about him since 'Steam Detectives' or the Batman manga, 'Childhood Dreams'. Obviously he's doing something. Confused
