It premieres in April? That is an awfully fast turn-around time. Presumably, they had already started production on the assumption that it would get funded?

The show was already very much in the production process before this. They only asked for an additional $30k anyway, not really enough to make a substantial difference. My theory is that it's partially to drum up interest, and partially to give Collector's a little more prestige. If I were Japanese, I'd back it for sure.

Also, over $30k from just 77 people is pretty nuts. Gotta love Japanese collector's. They are willing to drop that money. That's over $400 on average, per backer. I hope this turns out to be a good production. I'm pretty interested in it based on the staff and the premise.

I've been thinking the exact same thing, but keep chalking it up to being old. Just the other day my co-worker, Shouji asked if I got his email yet in the office, and I replied, that we should give it a couple days, JapanPost is slow as hell these days and this new fangled electronic mail probably just confuses them even more. Very Happy

I suspected the show was already well in to production and other sources of monies, and that the CF'ing is likely needed for a shortfall for later in the season or for the grand finale; OR, another big company is using CF as a way to abuse social media with a new viral marketing campaign.

From what I could work out, it's about $400 per person, which I would say is a lot, but then looking at stuff on Kickstarter people are willing to drop $5.000, more than the max amount you can get on this.

I hope that with that amount, it could help at least give some more money to the overworked and extremely underpaid animators that are making this series.
