Hmm, I think the show is alright. Personally, the comedy feels like a hit or miss at times but the characters are pretty fun to watch especially Megumin from the second episode. She kinda reminds me of Rikka...
Artwork is not strong imo as I think DEEN's budget went to Rakuago this season. Still, a fun show I guess. Not too much from this but it has its fun moments. (and toads) |

Watched Episode 1 yesterday and its pretty funny and interessting. Good Characters and good Humour. Nothing outstanding but it has my Attention

Those only mildly interested after episode 1 should find their enthusiasm jacked up after episode 2. It's a tremendously funnier episode.

Lots of fun so far. It's been a while since I've seen a purely comedic approach taken to this type of setting. I'm a little dubious as to whether the show can maintain this level of energy, but I look forward to finding out.

The show is good its just it would be a lot better being done by any other studio with a real budget
This is the most low budget DEEN in awhile and it suffers for it. Lots of terrible faces, repeated montages/animation or stills, the show is just not getting what it deserves sadly. I suspect some of the cut/changed content from the books also comes from budget as they'd rather just have a black or empty background and less characters in a scene than the actual original one that had a lot more to it |

I'm not even sure anymore if I'd prefer another studio over DEEN at this point. Yes it looks shitty, no questions asked. But as a fan of the LNs and having seen sources getting butchered, so far this adaptation is nothing but great. It's ridiculously close to the source.
Yeah they left out the part that Aqua didn't buy a weapon in ep2 because she's too full of herself and them hiring someone to get the loot back into town (besides the one that Megumin blasted into smithereens) but other than that, I can't really think of anything they're leaving out. Or doing different from the source. So yeah, KyoAni doing this instead of DEEN would make it look way better, but I'd be afraid of the adaptation itself. So frankly I'm fine with DEEN for now despite how it looks. Also does this mean we get more reviews for this?

If you were referring to the poll for the second episode, that has been corrected. Thanks for pointing it out. As for the "repeated montages," I'm not convinced that was purely a cost-cutting measure. They seemed like deliberate and meaningful visual set-ups to me. As for thinning out background populations, that happens in more than 90% of anime at some point or another. Hardly particular to this series. EDIT: And yes, this isn't a one-off review. I will be doing it weekly. |

I was afraid that only the first episode would be worth-watching, but fortunately, as you said, episode 2 was really funny as well. I expected nothing from this show when it aired. It looked generic and the fact that Deen was going to adapt it made things even worse. Surprisingly, I'm having lots of fun watching KONOSUBA. The animation, I think, improved a little after Ep. 1. It seemed to me that faces were on-model more time than in Ep. 1. And the magical effects put in Aqua's attacks and in the little arch wizard explosive magic were impressive as well (Her background dialogue about her eye-patch was amazing). And those faces are hilarious. The amount of different gestures the characters are makinh the best part of the show. Amd the voice acting is on point as well. It seems that the seiyuus are having a blast while doing the show. I'm also eager to see what are the quirks of the new warrior girl. It seems like she's not that good with words (or men). |

I actually find it interesting how 2 anime from 'transported-to-fantasy-world' type shows are polar opposites. KonoSuba is more the light hearted one, closer to ixion Saga DT. Meanwhile Grimgar is taking it self really serious and very angsty/dramatic. Actually kind of hard to find a series to compare it too. Sao and LH also have plenty of drama, but the monsters are mostly mindless(and LH is definitely less angsty than Grimgar( Although both are are definitely among my favs this season. |

I was SO happy they squeezed in my favorite character Darkness' appearance at the end of episode 2. She's a real stitch.

I wasn't even planning to check this show out, to be honest. After it got so much buzz in the Preview Guide though, I did, and it was wonderful! I thought the VRMMO setting was getting old, and it still sort of is, but man, they keep coming up with good ways to utilize it. Both Grimgar and Konosuba are very strong shows that take totally different approaches to the setting. I'm loving it!
Also happy to see it getting reviewed. Not too surprising after everyone went crazy over it being passed over, but thanks for doing this for us Theron!
