The organizers of the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) announced on Friday that the event will host the world premiere of Mamoru Oshii's The Last Druid: Garm Wars film. The live-action science-fiction film will be screened as part of the festival's Special Screening Section. Production I.G originally slated the film to premiere in early summer of this year.
Other works that will make their world premiere in the Special Screening Section include the first of two live-action Parasyte films, the Shingeki no Kyojin Zenpen ~Guren no Yumiya~ (Attack on Titan Part I: Crimson Bow and Arrow) compilation film, and episode 10 of Oshii's live-action The Next Generation -Patlabor- series. The event will also host the Asian premiere of Appleseed Alpha, a CG-animated film inspired by Masamune Shirow's science-fiction manga Appleseed. A festival trailer featuring the Special Screening Section's films also began streaming on Friday:
This year's TIFF will be held from October 23 to 31. The festival's organizers announced last year that the event will focus more on anime starting this year.
