New Love Live! Anime Film's June 13 Date, New Best Album Unveiled

posted on by Egan Loo

The official Twitter account for the Love Live! staff announced on Saturday that Love Live! The School Idol Movie will open on Saturday, June 13. The official website will provide more details on Sunday.

The account and website also announced that the μ's Best Album Best Live! Collection II will go on sale on May 27. It will contain three CDs with 38 tracks from "Bokura wa Ima no Naka de" to Bibi's "Fuyu ga Kureta Yokan." As bonus tracks, it will also have the remixes of eight songs that were produced for the PS Vita game Love Live! School idol paradise, for a total running time of about three hours and 30 minutes.

The "super-deluxe limited edition" will add a "female alpaca pass case," an extra-large earphone jack accessory, a micro-fiber memorial jacket bath towel, and a box to hold everything. Various stores will also offer the super-deluxe limited edition with bonus holders illustrated with a different character.

The final episode of the second Love Live! School idol project television anime season announced last June that production on a brand-new film for the franchise has been green-lit. The Nikkei MJ newspaper had reported last August that the film would have opened in Spring 2015. However, the Cinemas by Shochiku website then reported the early Summer 2015 opening and the tagline, "Please! Fulfill our dream…."

In 2010, the anime studio Sunrise, Lantis, and ASCII Media Works' Dengeki G Magazine launched Love Live! as a self-described "ultimate user-participation project" which lets its fans vote on the future of the fictional idols. A series of music CDs and animated music videos then followed. The members of the project announced in 2012 that an full anime series has been green-lit for the following year. The second season of the anime was announced in June 2013.

Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan, and NIS America has licensed both seasons for North American release.
