British game developer Mediatonic and North American game publisher Devolver Digital announced on Friday that the pigeon dating sim game Hatoful Boyfriend will ship for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on July 21. Sony announced in November that the game would get a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita release in the second quarter of 2015.
The PlayStation versions of the game will add a new romance option. Players will be able to talk with Tohri Nishikikouji, a character who appeared in the sequel game Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star. Devolver Digital's Nigel Lowrie said, “This new content means there is a whole new story path for longtime fans and new players to the series as well as a brand new ending."
Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star is also slated to ship for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC this fall. Devolver Digital released the first Hatoful Boyfriend game digitally on Steam in English for Linux, Mac, and Windows on September 2 after a delay.
In the first game, the player is a human female who is seeking to fall in love with a pigeon at a school for gifted birds. The game features portraits of every bird that suggest what they would look like in human form.
