Linebarrels of Iron Duo Launch 'Full Remake' of 'Legendary Robot Manga' in September

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

The September issue of Akita Shoten's Bessatsu Shōnen Champion magazine revealed on Wednesday that Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi will begin a "full remake" of a "legendary robot" manga in the magazine's next issue, which Akita Shoten will publish on September 12. The manga remains untitled.

Shimizu and Shimoguchi announced in January 2014 that they would be drawing a manga based on Shintaro Ishinomori's 1970s tokusatsu TV series Robot Detective. The manga was originally slated to debut in fall of that year in conjunction with Akita Shoten's Shōnen Champion family of magazines. Toei released a short trailer for the original announcement last year:

Shimizu and Shimoguchi worked together on the Linebarrels of Iron manga, which they launched in 2005 in Akita Shoten's Champion RED magazine, and ended in April 2014, in the magazine's June issue. Akita Shoten will publish the manga's 25th and final compiled book volume on August 20. The manga inspired a 24-episode anime in 2008 that FUNimation Entertainment released in North America in 2010. The duo is also serializing the Ultraman manga in Shogakukan's Heroes magazine. Shogakukan shipped the manga's sixth compiled volume on July 4, and the series has more than 1.7 million copies in print.

Viz Media is releasing the Ultraman manga in North America.
