A flyer distributed at the TIFFCOM event last October listed the television anime of Sei Hatsuno's HaruChika: Haruta to Chika wa Seishun Suru novel series with 12 episodes.
The anime premiered on January 6, and Funimation Entertainment is streaming the series as it airs in Japan.
The original novels revolve around two high school students named Haruta and Chika, who are members of a concert band that is on the verge of being shut down. The two are childhood friends, and they spend their days practicing hard while also trying to recruit new members. When a certain incident happens within their school, they work together to solve it.
Masakazu Hashimoto (Tari Tari, Soul Eater Not! Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva) is directing the anime at P.A. Works. Reiko Yoshida (Bakuman., K-ON!, Yowamushi Pedal, Tamako Market) is handling the series composition, Namaniku ATK (Chaika - The Coffin Princess) is in charge of the original character design, and Asako Nishida (Love Live! School idol project, Vampire Knight, Angel Links) is adapting those designs for animation. Shiroh Hamaguchi (Ah! My Goddess, One Piece, Sakura Wars) is composing the music with producer Terunari Yoshie at Lantis.
