Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs Previewed on Steam Greenlight

posted on by Kevin Yuan

The Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs game project opened a page on Steam Greenlight on Saturday, featuring various images and a video previewing the first mission of a work-in-progress version of the game.

The Kickstarter campaign to create the game ran from August to October 2015 and raised US$96,591, surpassing its initial goal of US$75,000. The game is slated for release for Nintendo 3DS, PC (Windows, Mac, Linux), and the Sega Dreamcast in Europe, America, and Japan. The PC release is slated for in the third quarter of this year.

The Steam Greenlight page describes the game:

Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs is an all-new 2D 16-Bit style run'n'gun shoot-'em-up including giant Mecha action, based upon the original anime series from 1986. Allow us to take you back in time with this original 80's IP. Power Stride and Ready to Ride!

Studio Pierrot aired the original TV anime series under the name Seijuushi Bismarck in Japan in 1984. World Events Productions(WEP) reworked the series for the U.S. market, and it still holds the rights to the property.
