Indonesian film distributor Jive Entertainment revealed on Saturday that the Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale anime film's wide opening in Indonesia will open on March 22.

CGV Cinemas had previously delayed its limited-engagement screening of the film on February 18 due to "technical issues," but eventually rescheduled the screening to February 25 at the CGV Cinemas Grand Indonesia. The company also held another limited-engagement screening of the film on Saturday at the same venue.

Similar screenings took place in other Southeast Asian territories coinciding with the Japanese opening date of the film.

The film sold about 308,376 tickets for 425,762,760 yen (about US$3.76 milion) to top the Japanese box office during the February 18-19 weekend. The film has set an opening-weekend record among films distributed by Aniplex. As of last week, the film had earned a cumulative total of over 1 billion yen (about US$8.8 million).
