Yoshiki Cancels Anime Expo Appearance Due to Surgery Recovery

YOSHIKI, leader of rock band X Japan, announced on Twitter on Sunday that he will not be able to appear at Anime Expo in Los Angeles as planned because "X Japan rehearsal is taking longer due to my recovery." He apologized and added "but I'll see you again."
YOSHIKI recently underwent surgery in Los Angeles, and is expected to make a 90% recovery within six months. He was previously diagnosed with cervical foraminal stenosis (narrowing of the cervical disc space) in 2009, and his symptoms reappeared last October.
Yoshiki was scheduled to appear at the convention for a 12:00 p.m. screening of the X Japan documentary We Are X and Q&A session on Sunday morning.
Anime Expo replied to Yoshiki's tweet to say, "We look forward to your video greetings for the 'We Are X' screening and Masquerade." We Are X is also sponsoring the convention's masquerade and World Cosplay Summit U.S. Preliminary.
