Comic Market 92 Attracts 160,000 Attendees on 1st Day

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

The Comic Market 92 (Comiket 92) event in Tokyo drew approximately 160,000 attendees on August 11, the convention's first day.

Attendance was up from last summer's 150,000 attendees at Comiket 90, and down from Comiket 88's 180,000 in summer 2015. Friday was also a holiday in Japan, and Comiket staff said they expected a larger turnout than normal.

Tokyo Big Sight's West 2 Hall is closed at this summer's event due to expansion construction work to prepare for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Comiket 91 attracted 170,000 in its first day on December 29.

Summer 2013's Comiket 84 holds the record for the most attendees on the first day with about 210,000.
