Yoshio Kazumi (Ajin episode director) is directing the anime at Polygon Pictures, and Satoshi Ozaki supervising and writing the series scripts. The artist AK-69 performs the anime's opening theme song "Sōten no Hate ni" (To the Ends of the Blue Sky), while Uesaka performs the ending theme song "Inori no Hoshizora" (Starry Night of Prayer).
Buronson and Horie wrote the Fist of the Blue Sky manga, with art by Hara. The manga is a prequel to the Fist of the North Star manga. Fist of the Blue Sky launched in the debut issue of Shinchosha's Weekly Comic Bunch magazine in May 2001 and continued until the magazine ceased publication in August 2010. Shinchosha published the series in 22 compiled book volumes.
