Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch Sequel Project Gets 'Important Announcement' on August 3

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

The official Twitter account for the Code Geass franchise teased on Friday that the staff will make an "important announcement" on August 3 at 8:00 p.m. JST (7:00 a.m. EDT).

The Twitter account noted that the announcement will feature a 210-second video that will screen on the "Shinjuku Alta Vision" and "Akihabara UDX Vision" large public screens in Tokyo. The announcement will also stream on Bandai Channel, LINE LIVE, and AbemaTV. The Twitter post teased that the video will only screen once. The Twitter account also confirmed that the announcement will be related to the Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch sequel project (English subtitle: Re;surrection) that Sunrise announced in November 2016.

Sunrise recently screened a compilation film trilogy that recaps all 50 episodes of both Code Geass series. The cast re-recorded all their lines for the films, and the films include new scenes. Director Goro Taniguchi said that the changes made in the recap films were not a negation of the film trilogy, but rather one possible outcome. Writer Ichiro Okouchi said that he considers the new trilogy to be not an end but a beginning. Funimation has licensed the trilogy.

Goro Taniguchi and writer Ichiro Okouchi confirmed in May that they are both returning for what is "next" for the films.
