Nintendo Switch Console Sales Reach 19.67 Million Units Worldwide

Nintendo announced that its Nintendo Switch console has now sold 19.67 million units worldwide as of June 30. The company has also sold 86.93 million software units for the Switch.

Nintendo announced in April that it had sold 17.79 million units worldwide as of March 31.

The console launched worldwide on March 3, 2017, and it had sold an estimated 330,637 units in Japan within three days of its launch. The sales surpassed 500,000 units in Japan in four weeks — outpacing Sony's PlayStation 4 over the same time period — and surpassed 1 million units in Japan by June 25.

The Nintendo Switch had outsold the Wii U console, which has sold 13.56 million units worldwide, as of December 31.

Nintendo additionally announced that it has now sold 72.89 million Nintendo 3DS consoles and 367.84 million software units for the 3DS. Nintendo sold 0.36 million 3DS consoles during the first quarter of fiscal year 2018.

The company stated it expects to sell 20 million Nintendo Switch units in the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2019. The company also stated it expects to sell 4 million 3DS consoles in the same time period.
