Fuji TV announced on Tuesday that it will air a rerun of the "Maruko, Kyōdaigenka o Suru" and "Maruko, Tsuzura no Nakami ga Shiritai" episodes of the Chibi Maruko-chan anime on September 2, in light of the recent passing of Chibi Maruko-chan manga creator Momoko Sakura.
Both episodes originally aired on October 16, 2011 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original manga. (They adapted the third manga volume's 17th installment and ninth manga volume's 64th installment, respectively.) "Maruko, Kyōdaigenka o Suru" is a remake of the anime's first episode, which aired on January 7, 1990.
The episodes "Maruko, Pirania ga Kowai" and "Maruko, Tane o Tabetai" were originally slated to air on September 2, but the official Chibi Maruko-chan website will post their new airing schedules at a later date.
Momoko Sakura passed away on August 15 due to breast cancer.
