Senryū Shōjo Manga Has Important Announcement on December 12

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

The first 2019 issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine revealed on Wednesday that Masakuni Igarashi's Senryū Shōjo (Senryū Girl) manga will have an important announcement in the magazine's next issue on December 12.

The Twitter account "@senryu_anime" was registered in November, but it currently has no public content.

The manga centers on Nanako Yukishiro and Eiji Busujima. Nanako is a girl who can only communicate what she wants to say by using senryū (a poetry style similar to haiku more focused on humor). Eiji is an intimidating but kind boy who is a member of the school literature club. The manga tells the story of the pair's cheerful everyday interactions through 17 syllables.

Igarashi launched the manga in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in October 2016. Kodansha published the manga's sixth compiled book volume on September 14, and will ship the seventh volume on December 17. The series has more than 450,000 copies in print. The manga ranked at #16 in the printed manga category of this year's Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards in August.
