Adult Swim's Jason DeMarco: FLCL Alternative/Progressive Subtitles Coming This Year
posted on by Karen Ressler
Jason DeMarco, senior vice-president and creative director for Adult Swim, said on Twitter on Friday that the English subtitled versions of FLCL Alternative and FLCL Progressive are slated for sometime this year "for sure."
DeMarco explained, "Due to agreements with TOHO we had to wait on the subbed version, and now it's been caught up in legal details."
The subtitled versions were originally slated to debut on Adult Swim's website alongside the English dubbed versions in June and September. The subtitled release was delayed until last November, but has still not debuted. The initial delay was at TOHO's request, and the reason given at the time was "to align with the release of the Japanese language versions."
Both anime debuted as theatrical screenings in Japan in September, and a Blu-ray Disc box set with both anime shipped in Japan on October 31.
