Puzzle & Dragons Anime Starts 'Pro Gamer Arc' on April 1

This year's March issue of Shogakukan's Coro Coro Comics announced on Friday that the Pazudora anime based on the Puzzle & Dragons game series will begin its "Pro Gamer Arc" on April 1. The arc will focus on [Highlight white text to read spoilers] the protagonist Taiga, now a pro gamer, and a new character, a mysterious boy named Hayato.

Pazudora premiered on TV Tokyo last April. The anime's story is set in the present day, and centers on Taiga Akaishi, a passionate boy who is aiming to become #1 in the world of professional gaming.

Hajime Kamegaki is returning from the Puzzle & Dragons X anime to direct Pazudora at Studio Pierrot. Shinzō Fujita (Duel Masters Cross, Future Card Buddyfight Battsu, Zero Duel Masters) is in charge of the series scripts.

The series also has a manga the premiered in Coro Coro Comics magazine in February 2018.

Puzzle & Dragons X, based on the Nintendo 3DS game of the same name, premiered in Japan in July 2016. Funimation and Crunchyroll both streamed the series as it aired in Japan. The anime's second season premiered in April 2017. A manga adaptation of the game also launched in Coro Coro Comics in April 2016. Momota Inoue (Puzzle and Dragons Z) drew the series. It ended in July 2017.
