The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarded Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse the award for Animated Feature Film at the 91st Academy Awards on Sunday.

Mamoru Hosoda and Studio Chizu's anime film Mirai was nominated in this category. Incredibles 2, Isle of Dogs, and Ralph Breaks the Internet were also nominated.

The Japanese film Shoplifters, directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, received a nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category, but Roma won the award.

No anime shorts received nominations in the Animated Short Film category this year. "Bao" won the award.

The ceremony honored in memoriam actress Margot Kidder (Superman: The Movie, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz), American comics pioneer Stan Lee, and Studio Ghibli co-founder and director Isao Takahata.
