Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization Game Launches for Switch in West on May 24

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Bandai Namco Entertainment America and Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe announced on Monday that they will release the Nintendo Switch version of the Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization game digitally on May 24. The companies also revealed four new screenshots for the game.

Bandai Namco Entertainment America previously announced that it would release the game for Switch this spring, after moving the release date up from this summer. Bandai Namco Entertainment will release the Nintendo Switch version in Japan on April 25. The Switch release will include the "Fighters of the Blue Sky" and the "Shrine Maiden of the Abyss" expansions.

Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization shipped for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in Japan in October 2016, and in North America and Europe in November 2016. The game later received a PC release in October 2017.

Original Sword Art Online light novel author Reki Kawahara collaborated on the game. The characters Kirito, Asuna, Leafa, Silica, Lisbeth, and Sinon appear in the game, and players can choose up to three characters to join their party. The game's new characters are a mysterious AI named Premiere (voiced by Yuiko Tatsumi) and Genesis (voiced by Kazuyuki Okitsu). Genesis, like Kirito, is called the "black swordsman."
