The official website for Tokyo Ghoul S, the second live-action film based on Sui Ishida's Tokyo Ghoul manga, revealed on Friday that Ishida drew a new visual based on the main cast of the film. The illustration will be offered for a poster-size movie ticket for the film beginning on June 11.
The film will open in Japan on July 19.
Masataka Kubota is returning as Ken Kaneki, but Maika Yamamoto is replacing Fumika Shimizu as Tōka Kirishima. (Shimizu retired from acting to join the Happy Science religious organization in 2017.) Shota Matsuda is joining the cast as Shū Tsukiyama, a character who appears in the manga but was not in the last film.
The first film premiered on July 3, 2017 at Anime Expo in Los Angeles. The film then opened in Japan on July 29, 2017, and ranked #5 in its opening weekend in Japan. Funimation screened the first film in theaters in the United States in October 2017.
