Mario Upgrades His Ride to a Mercedes-Benz

While legions of fans eagerly snapped up Mario Kart 8 yesterday, eager to push Mario and his buddies past whizzing shells and various traps, the title character traded in his iconic go kart for a brand new Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV.

In beautiful 8-Bit glory, Mario zips across the 2D landscape of a Super Mario Bros. level, using his car to reach blocks and clear rough terrain. Eventually, he steps out in all his rugged glory, only to be met with a long-time foe.

The car is also available in Japanese versions of Mario Kart 8, making it the first real-world car to be available in the game series.
