Plans have recently surfaced for WARASCO, a new anime and manga theme park slated to open Spring 2016 in Sendai. It will be located in Moniwa, Taihaku-ku, along Japan National Route 286.

Approximately 3.5 hectares (about 8.6 acres) of land are being set aside for the project, which will feature three, three-story buildings, each between 6,000-10,000 square meters, and will give visitors the chance to immerse themselves in the world of popular anime and manga properties, like Evangelion, Fist of the North Star, and Pokemon. Other attractions will include interactive games displayed on large screens, special shops, restaurants, stage shows, and cosplay photo staging areas.

The project is expected to cost 10 billion yen (about US$98.3 million), but is expected to draw over 1 million visitors in its first year, with an estimated 7 billion yen in sales (about US$68.9 million). Construction will begin this November.
