Kanazawa University Is Looking For Foreign Students in Japan To Go On A Hanasaku Iroha Pilgrimage Tour

posted on by Bamboo Dong

If you're a foreign student currently residing in Japan who's been meaning to visit some of the sights and landmarks featured in P.A. Works' Hana-Saku Iroha, then now is your chance. Kanazawa University is recruiting 15 foreign students to attend an anisong concert featuring songs from various P.A. Works properties, and check out some of the places used as references in Hana-Saku Iroha. The only catch is that it costs 3,000 yen (about US$27.50), and you have to share your experience on your social media networks.

The schedule of events starts on October 11 with an anisong concert held at the Kanazawa University gym, featuring appearances by Kanae Itō, Mamiko Noto, nano.RIPE, ChouCho, eufonius, AIRI, Aira Yūki, and Mito (clammbon). The evening will feature the fourth annual Bonbori Matsuri paper lantern festival, an event prominently featured in the anime, which takes place in the Yuwaku Onsen Area.

Then on October 12, participants will be able to see some of the various locations in the Hana-Saku Iroha tour, including Kanazawa University, Nanto City in Toyama Prefecture, and Noto Railways Nishigishi Station.

Since the anime's broadcast in 2011, Kanazawa has seen a spike in tourism from those eager to catch a glimpse of the beautiful surroundings featured in Hana-Saku Iroha. Here are some comparison shots, as posted by @626shin, and a location guide from TV Tokyo of the Yuwaku Onsen Area.

Those interested should email [email protected] with "花咲くいろはツアー " in the subject line, along with name, gender, current school, address, contact information, and date of birth. Or, place a call to Ms. Kunishida at the Kanazawa University Regional Collaboration Center at +81 (0) 76 264 5272 or +81 (0) 76 264 5290. The application deadline is October 3.
