Kazuki Katou Slated to Appear in Titanic Musical

posted on by Eric Stimson
Cast also includes other Prince of Tennis veterans, Miyu Irino

Kazuki Katou (Keigo Atobe in the live-action Prince of Tennis musicals, Kamen Rider Kabuto, Kikyo in Katekyo Hitman Reborn!) is slated to appear in the Japanese production of the Titanic musical. Composed by Maury Yeston and written by Peter Stone, Titanic originally opened on Broadway in 1997. It tells the stories of several different passengers on the doomed luxury liner of 1912 from various social classes and prides itself on greater fidelity to history than James Cameron's more well-known version, also from 1997. Katou will star as Thomas Andrews, the Titanic's designer.

In addition, other actors famed for their appearances in the Prince of Tennis musicals are being cast. Yūta Furukawa (Shusuke Fuji) will appear as Jim Farrell, a Third-Class passenger; Hiroshi Yazaki (Kentarou Minami) is cast as a bellboy and a bandmaster; and Ryūnosuke Onoda (Hiroshi Yagyuu) makes an appearance as Second Officer Charles Lightoller. Miyu Irino (Syaoran in Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, Haku in Spirited Away, Sora in Kingdom Hearts) is also on the cast list, starring as Frederick Fleet, the lookout.

Titanic is directed by Thom Southerland and opens at Tokyo's Bunkamura Theater Cocoon on March 14. It will play there until March 29, then move to Osaka's Umeda Arts Theater from April 1 to 5. Tickets go on sale on January 17.
