Watch the Pocky Pole Project Drop Giant Pocky and Pretz-Shaped Sticks Via Skydivers
posted on by Bamboo Dong
November 11 is Pocky Day, because no other day in the calendar year lets you celebrate four beautiful, tasty sticks (11/11) all day long. Fans mark the occasion by drawing their favorite characters eating Pocky. Last year, Pocky-maker Ezaki Glico even launched Pocky and Pretz rockets.
This year, the company's publicity stunt involves sticking giant Pocky and Pretz poles into the ground, delivered via skydivers, an event that will be broadcast on Niconico on November 11 starting at 8 AM JST (or November 10, 6PM EST).
A helicopter will ascend to 1,111 meters, at which point a skydiver will jump. At 111 meters, the diver will try to drop a giant Pocky or Pretz stick onto a painted target. The first Pocky drop is scheduled to happen at, of course, 11:11 AM JST, with Pretz following suit at 12:11 PM JST. So far, though, less than 45% of people think that both sticks will hit their target.
Be sure to check out the stream to see what happens.
