Chiropractor Demonstrates How to Stretch Properly Using Medical Manga Godhand Teru

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Licensed chiropractor Shunsuke Matsuda created a series of videos to help manga fans relieve their tired, sore muscles. Matsuda demonstrated tips from Kazuki Yamamoto's long-running Godhand Teru medical manga to relieve general muscle aches and pains from sleeping incorrectly.

As shown in the video, the stretches are:

  1. Raise the arm backward for 20 seconds, allowing the wrist to go limp, and repeat.
  2. Place your arm on your back at belt height, rotate the elbow backward until your back contracts. Hold for 20 seconds.
  3. Create a 120 degree angle with your arm by raising it 90 degrees and extending your hand. Move the arm backward until your back contracts. Hold for 20 seconds.
  4. Repeat all three with the other side of your body.

This is the second time in recent months that anime and manga were used to demonstrate good stretching technique. Kadokawa's health and fashion magazine Chou Chou Aliis featured Attack on Titan's Armin to depict stretch routines. Godhand Teru ran for a total of 62 volumes and was adapted into a live-action TV drama.
