Light Up Any Outfit with an LED "Hikaru" Skirt or Sneakers

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

kayac creative director and interactive designer Kiyoyuki Amano is spearheading the "wearable special effects" skirt project, "Hikaru Skirt." The site claims the skirt turns the "zettai ryouiki" (i.e. the "absolute territory" between where a girl's skirt ends and her stockings begin) into "komorebi ryouiki,"or "territory where sunshine filters through the trees."

The images show the model wearing the skirt in a variety of colors, including blue, yellow, pink, and green.

The project seems to still be under development. Amano uploaded a video demonstrating the LED skirt with Hatsune Miku cosplay.

Interest in fashionable LED items started to gain momentum last year when the Japanese fashion store WEGO began to stock LED light-up sneakers. The store's announcement kicked off a wave of popularity on Twitter, getting 10,000 retweets over three days.
