Fan-Ensemble Orchestra Brings Sailor Moon to Los Angeles

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The Sailor Moon Symphony: SERASYMPHONY orchestral concert is heading to Los Angeles this summer. IconiQ The Soundtrack Orchestra, a chamber ensemble, will perform on July 5 at the Zipper Hall inside The Colburn School. The concert will coincide with Anime Expo.

Tickets go on sale on May 1. The fan-created arrangement, courtesy of Artistic Director Bobbie Lee Crow III, will feature themes and background music from all five seasons of the original Sailor Moon in a five-movement symphony. The concert will include performances by violinist Christina Bouey and composer-pianist Yasuhiko Fukuoka.

The group is running a Kickstarter campaign to raise US$7,500. If the campaign is successful, the concert will extend to include renditions of Heart Moving, La Soldier, and Moon Revenge and add Sailor Moon dub singer Jennifer Cihi to perform songs from the DiC dub.

Stretch goals will add variations from Sailor Moon Crystal (US$8,000), an additional concert on July 3 (US$9,500), and a professional CD recording (US$11,000).

IconiQ performed a sold-out show in New York on October 10.
